Modern Marveling
The first branded Porsche was the 1948 Type 356, but Professor Porsche was working on his designs by at least 1930, registering his company name in 1931. A lot of cars have rolled off the assembly line since then. Perhaps you're wondering which models are most popular today? 2021 US sales set a stateside record, with more than 70,000 units finding their drivers. Of those, the Macan and Cayenne led the way in sales. Interestingly, this reflects the general change in vehicle tastes. The Macan is a small sports SUV, while the Cayenne is a mid-size luxury SUV. A traditional car, the 911, isn't found until third place in sales numbers. It's one of the more iconic models, loved by drivers since 1963. The others rounding out the list (in order of US sales) are the Taycan, 718, and Panamera. Although there were small differences that accounted for minor position shifts, the 2020 popularity list looks similar. Thus, it would appear that the SUV style is here to stay.
